Music With Patrick: seriously silly musical fun for children and the grown-ups who love them.

Welcome!

Carl Schurz Park

If you've never been to Carl Schurz Park on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, do yourself a favor and go there: they've got great playgrounds, a dedicated group of park volunteers, some wonderful local families and a spectacular view of the East River.   Here's a snap from our recent concert at the park's Halloween party.

West Fest 2016

The 2016 Westerleigh Folk Festival was beyond-fun, with perfect weather in a beautiful park and lovely families enjoying music, food and an all-around good time.  Glad we were part of it.

The Rock-A-Silly Dancers in Da House!

The world-renowned Rock-A-Silly Dancers brought the house dow at our recent show at Staten Island's Historic Richmond Town!  Let's just say that "Five Little Moneys" never sounded - or looked - so good!   Great job, little friends.

Frogs Rule!

Thought I'd share this piece of art a child drew during a recent camp show.  (They sure can multi-task!)

Super-Silly Sing-Along and Sprinkler Splash-Fest

The annual Greenbelt show was a rousing success thanks to the huge crowd of happy families we played to and the sunny weather that had us cooling off on the lawn as we dashed through the sprinklers.  talk about fun!

My Camp Helpers

Performing at St. Charles Camp was so much fun with these wonderful young helpers, who played off my goofy, improvisational antics with great skill and without missing a beat.   Hope to play again with them soon!

"Man With Frog On Head"

Little-known art history fact: "Man With Frog On Head" was and remains one of Rembrandt's lesser-known works....for good reason.    (Though it does kinda beat looking at self-important Dutch burghers, I think.)

Father's Day

My daughter's assessment of her dad was spot-on, I think.   Happy Father's Day to dads everywhere and everywhen.

Camp Good Grief

The good people who volunteer at Camp Good Grief of Staten Island truly are angels on this earth: they provide a free weekend of camp for children mourning the loss of people close to them.  This past weekend they invited me to again do a drum circle with the children they serve, and, man, what an amazing experience it was.   Please check out their website at campgoodgriefsi.com if you know a family who might benefit from this healing weekend.

Out of the mouths of babes...

While helping out a my kids' swim meet the other day a girl from the other team approached me, saying, "You look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere." When I told her I play music for kids her eyes widened in an "aha" moment of recognition. "You're the guy with the frog on your head!" she said and smiled. Now THAT'S something to make a fella smile.
